New life brings new joys and cheer into homes. Nothing can match the welcoming of a newborn into a family. But nothing is also more devastating to know they’re born with abnormalities or more, and there’s little to nothing you can do to cure it. Families, especially parents go through depression and trauma because of the helpless situation they are in, and the child, as he/she begins to grow and understand how they’re different from the rest, they could be broken too. Fragile X syndrome (FXS) is a genetic disorder characterised by mild-to-moderate intellectual disability. The average IQ in males is under 55, while about two-thirds of affected females are intellectually disabled.
